Boyfriend Andres and sister Dannii cheer as Kylie accepts top honour
In the crowning moment of her reign as Australia’s princes of pop, Kylie Minogue was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame last night by old pal Molly Meldrum and Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who introduced the singer as a “woman so famous we only have to say her first name – Kylie.”
In a heartfelt acceptance speech the singer shared her joy over the honour. “I’m a very proud Australian. Tonight’s award means so much to me,” she said, bringing several, including Meldrum, to tears. “Coming home is a win anyway, I always feel so happy to be home in Australia. To finally be here and be acknowledged is really something. Its amazing.’

The 43-year-old pop princess ditched her brunette dye-job and returned to her homeland with her famous goldilocks to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame by the country’s Welsh-born prime minister Julia Gillard.

Kylie thanked a long list of supporters, including her beaming sister Dannii, and “my boyfriend Andres, who is in love with this country—you’ve made him feel very welcome!” she said, as the Spanish model, 33, blew her kisses and wolf-whistled from their front-of-house table.
For music guru Molly Meldrum, who first met Minogue as a “nervous” young woman during a guest role on Neighbours, “It’s a huge night for Kylie. She’s excited about it,” he said. “Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think she’d take off as a singer, let alone become Australia’s biggest-selling artist ever,” he added. “Dreams do come true, eh?!”
