Kylie Minogue To Co-Chair amfAR Gala In Cannes

Apart from a red carpet appearance for her role in Holy Motors, Kylie Minogue will also co-chair amfAR's annual gala at the Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday.

Minogue stars in Holy Motors opposite Eva Mendes, directed by Frenchman Leos Carax, a film in the running for a Palme d'Or.

The Aussie diva will join Alec Baldwin and Janet Jackson in the South of France for the charity soiree on Thursday, May 24 2012.

Joining them are Milla Jovovich, designer Karl Lagerfeld, producer Harvey Weinstein, The Artist co-star Berenice Bejo and director Michel Hazanavicius, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and amfAR chairman Kenneth Cole.

The Cinema Against AIDS event will feature a live auction and runway show to benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Past big-ticket auction items included a kiss from Twilight star Robert Pattinson, a dress right off Gwen Stefani's back and Madonna's one-of-a-kind Chanel handbag.

Kylie has been a long-time supporter of the charity first appearing as a guest, helping Sharon Stone with the auction in Cannes and has since chaired three amfAR gala dinners in Los Angeles, New York and Paris.

Kylie said, ‘This is another great opportunity for me to support amfAR, an organisation whose work is so very important. I’m excited be one of the co-chairs at this event alongside some amazing personalities. Cannes, here we come!’

The event has raised more than $US70 million since launching in Cannes in 1993.
