Why Kylie Minogue Still Feels So Lucky

SHE has become a fixture in the music business since launching her career in 1987 but Kylie Minogue says she’s “astounded” she’s still working.

The London-based Aussie said she’s planning a documentary, a TV special and even a book to mark her 25th anniversary this year, which she’s dubbing “K25”.

And Kylie, who admits she’s been looking back at old performances, is planning to make 2012 her best year yet.

The 43-year-old said: “I am astounded to be still around after 25 years. That is the truth. I’ve been doing quite a bit of reminiscing which is not a usual thing for me to do – just because we’re preparing for what we’re calling K25. I’ve been looking back through a load of old photos and footage. It isn’t normal to still be here and looking forward to great things I have planned for next year. I feel very, very fortunate.”

Kylie found fame playing girl-next-door Charlene in hit soap Neighbours and launched a pop career in 1987 with such hits as Locomotion and I Should Be So Lucky. In 2005 she battled breast cancer and just four years later embarked on her first US and Canadian tour – fulfilling a dream to play at the Hollywood Bowl.

She says she wants to do an “anti-tour” for her fans this year where she’ll play stripped-down acoustic versions of her hits at small intimate venues.
