Kylie Minogue Could Hold The Key To Alzheimer's

Kylie Minogue's music is so catchy that scientists hope to use it to help trigger memories among Alzheimer's sufferers

The Aussie songstress’ aptly-titled Can’t Get You Out Of My Head was named the catchiest song of all time this week in a poll of 700 celebrities, who also voted Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines and Daft Punk's Get Lucky among the tunes most likely to become stuck in their heads, according to England’s Daily Mail.

The survey, organised by the Manchester Science Festival, was used to launch the largest ever experiment into what makes music memorable.

"Understanding catchy music is about much more than just a recipe for next week’s number one hit," said computational musicologist John Ashley Burgoyne, who is working on the project. "It’s the key to understanding why musical memories last a lifetime.

"When you hear catchy music again years or even decades later, all of a sudden the song comes back to and you find yourself singing along in your head."

Professor Alistair Burns, from the University of Manchester's institute of brain behaviour and mental health, said the project could be revolutionary in helping suffers of dementia preserve and rebuild their memories.

"Many dementia support groups use music singing and personalised playlists to help those with failing memory," he said. "The results could certainly have implications for improving the quality of life for people with dementia."

Kylie Minogue Attends APREC Cancer Research Benefit

Kylie Minogue attended the APREC cancer research association benefit auction dinner at Laurent Restaurant in Paris on Monday night.

In a pink and black knit dress, the singer mingled with professors and research associates at the event, and also delivered a speech during the night’s proceedings.

Kylie has been a strong advocate of promoting cancer research since being diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005, and in Feb. 2011 she celebrated five years of being cancer-free.

Kylie's New "Voice" Era Begins

Kylie shared the photo below via instagram yesterday with the caption:
"First day at school.....I mean, work! @BBCTheVoiceUK"

The new season of The Voice UK, which sees Kylie replacing coach Jessie J, kicked off Monday evening with a night out for Kylie and fellow judges Will.i.am and Tom Jones, as well as Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson (taking over from The Script's Danny O'Donoghue), at the Smoke bar and restaurant in Manchester's Malmaison hotel.

The new series of the show begins a round of blind auditions - which will run through Sunday - in Salford, today.

Just got out!
Kylie looked amazing - young and gorgeous. Hair down, red nails.
She had a figure hugging (tight!) little black number on.
She was calm, cool - made some funny jokes. A little inarticulate at times but no one would notice really.
Fans got on stage and danced between filming and she loved it, dancing along and giving hugs!
We called her over and she came and gave us big hugs when we told her we'd met at her concert in 2008. I told her we were engaged and she asked when we were getting married.
