(Condé Nast Press Release) – German GQ is rolling out the red carpet for another global star. Pop icon Kylie Minogue will be honored as “Gentlewoman of the Year” on Thursday at the 15th “GQ Men of the Year” awards. The 45-year old multi-talent will be in Berlin to personally accept the “Gentlewoman of the Year” award from the German men’s style magazine Gentlemen’s Quarterly.
Australian Minogue has been a chart favorite since beginning her music career in the 1980s, as well as captivating audiences with her elaborate live shows. The Grammy-winning artist celebrated 25 years onstage in 2012 and there’s no end in sight. Her 12th studio album will be released in 2014.
Editor-in-chief José Redondo-Vega explained GQ’s choice:
“Kylie Minogue has managed to become the dream woman and icon for several generations. She is the embodiment of a pop icon and has reinvented herself for each decade. And yet Kylie Minogue the person never disappears behind an artificial facade. It is precisely the ease of her music that makes it so profound.”
Glamorous international awards show:
The 15th annual GQ Men of the Year Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 7, at Berlin’s Komische Oper (Comic Opera). Among the recipients this year will be David Beckham and Götz George. Singer Anastacia will be on hand to celebrate a return to the international stage and accept a special GQ award for her charity work with breast cancer prevention.
Some 900 guests are expected to attend the ceremonies, which will be hosted this year for the first time by Joko Winterscheidt. The gala event will be broadcast the next day on television. Free TV station ProSieben MAXX will show a 90-minute special of the gala on November 8 at 10:10 pm. The broadcast will be preceded at 9:30 pm by a pre-show webcast on GQ.de and prosiebenmaxx.de, with red! host Annemarie Carpendale presenting highlights from the red carpet.
